High-quality handmade ceramic jar ideal for storing bread and pastries. The robust lid made of oak wood is impregnated with organic oil and also serves as a bread cutting board on the inside. The individual parts are largely made by hand in proven small businesses in Austria. High-quality ceramic production and fine woodworking have been highly valued in this country for generations.

Bread pots collection

Production
The clay, consisting exclusively of natural materials, is placed by hand in moulds specially designed by Stillsegler, carefully dried and later fired for the first time at 960 °C. Special glazes are then applied.
Special glazes are then applied, which are completely food-safe. This is followed by the second firing at 1040 °C.

A special feature
This comparatively low temperature can result in a typical glaze pattern, known as craquelure. This is a network of very fine ‘cracks’ in the glaze. The quality of the ceramic remains unaffected and is not damaged. On the contrary, this glaze pattern creates a ‘microclimate’ in the pot because it allows minimal temperature and humidity regulation. This has a very positive effect on the stored bread!

Please note! Due to bottlenecks in our production, there may be temporary delivery delays of several weeks for individual models. We ask for your understanding!

Care
- Wipe the bread pan and lid/cutting board occasionally with a damp cloth (preferably soaked in vinegar water).
- Do not clean the lid in the dishwasher and do not leave it in water. Wood warps!
- Rub the lid from time to time (when the wood has dried out) with Stillsegler wood care butter and leave to work. Polish with a dry cloth.
- Do not drop the lid into the pot as the glaze may crack.
