The clay mass, which consists exclusively of natural materials, is placed by hand into molds specially designed by Stillsegler, carefully dried and later fired for the first time at 960 °C.
Then special glazes are applied that are completely food safe. The second firing takes place at 1040 °C.

A special feature
This comparatively low temperature can create a typical glaze pattern, known as craquelure. This is a network of fine "cracks" in the glaze. The quality of the ceramic remains unaffected and is not damaged. On the contrary, this glaze pattern creates a "microclimate" in the pot because it allows for minimal temperature and humidity regulation. This effect has a very positive effect on the stored bread!

Care
• Occasionally wipe the bread bin and lid/cutting board with a damp cloth (preferably soaked in vinegar water).
• Do not clean the lid in the dishwasher and do not leave it in water. The wood will warp!
• Place the lid to dry and do not dry over the heater
• Clean the lid from time to time (when the wood has dried out) with the Stillsegler wood care butter Rub in and allow to take effect. Polish with a dry cloth.
• Do not drop the lid into the pot, as this can cause the glaze to crack and the entire pot to break.
