"Hike across the Vorderer to the Hinterer Gosausee" – Every season has its own special charm here. Idyllic in spring with fresh greenery and the glistening ice of the Gosau Glacier. Summer is the perfect place to go swimming after a hike. Autumn is a riot of colour as the deciduous trees turn golden yellow and are reflected in the water. In winter, Lake Gosau is usually ablaze with glittering splendour. The shady location means there is a good chance of being able to hike in the snow or at least in the hoarfrost.
The heart of the trail is the circular trail around the Vorderer Gosausee. It leads into the alpine nature without any great effort. The hike to the Hinterer Gosausee leads directly to the end of the valley with a fantastic view up to the Dachstein glacier.
The starting point of this hike is the car park in the rear Gosau valley. From the car park, it takes just a few minutes to reach the barely visible dam wall of the Vorderer Gosausee. Here you have a unique view of the turquoise-green water surrounded by the Gosaukamm and the Dachstein glacier. From the southern point of the lake, simply go straight on through the forest and mountain landscape to the Hinterer Gosausee. It gets quieter and quieter along the way. After around 2 hours, you reach your destination.
