№8 Gmunden

Hike from the gorge over the “Wammering” to Lake Laudach – for this trip, you can leave your car at Franzl im Holz or GH Silberfuchs and then walk “Into the Gorge” from there. At the last house “In der Klamm”, the hike begins with the turnoff from Laudachseestraße to the left over the bridge. After a barrier, the path leads across a wonderfully flowering meadow and then through the forest to the end of a forest road. There you have the option of taking a path slightly to the right, which initially leads somewhat steeply up the slope and further through the forest, before joining the Laudachsee forest road. This takes you uphill for a good twenty minutes to Laudachsee, very close to the Ramsau Alm. Here, the eastern shore of the idyllic Salzkammergutsee awaits you with the option of stopping off at the newly renovated Ramsau Alm.
A gentle alternative is a family walk on the Tuscany peninsula around the Great Villa Toscana. A place for the soul with an enchanting view of the Traunstein and the Lacus Felix. The property is located on the peninsula directly next to the Ort country castle and was built in 1869/70 on behalf of the Grand Duchess of Tuscany Maria Antonia. After the end of the First World War, the villa was redesigned in the spirit of Art Nouveau on behalf of Margarete Stonborough-Wittgenstein. In 1975, it was purchased by the state of Upper Austria.
Stop off in the evening at the Spiesberger Weinstube. Located in the middle of Gmunden in Kirchengasse in a traffic-calmed zone, the "Spies" exudes authenticity with a penchant for enjoyment. The special atmosphere in the wine bar has been traditional, original and very cozy since 1885 – a complete culinary experience, you could say! Extra tip for two: make a reservation in the “Reblaus” separate room!
As an alternative guest experience, we recommend the newly renovated inn "Zum goldenen Hirschen" on Linzerstrasse, which has been an open house for people from all directions since 1624. The boutique hotel & restaurant brings together what has always belonged together in the Salzkammergut: coziness and a special atmosphere.
