"Visit to Schloss Hochhaus, culinary delights combined with tradition and contemporary art" – the massive three-storey Renaissance castle on the main square was built around 1600 and sensitively revitalized a few years ago. The entrance gate is reminiscent of the Rococo style, and a Roman stone walled in next to it is a reminder of the early settlement of the place. After its renovation, "Schloss Hochhaus" has been restored to its former glory. Not least the careful demolition, using traditional materials, has given the house back much of its original character. The ground floor has housed an inn for more than 100 years, whose cuisine is popular and well-known far beyond the Salzkammergut. An extremely varied and interesting art collection is located on the upper floors of "Hochhaus". The "Vorchdorf Local History Museum" is housed in the adjoining "Fischerturm". With over 300 exhibits, it has the largest pipe collection in Upper Austria. A large model railway is a great attraction for children to play on.

In the building opposite, it is worth visiting the “Restaurant and Gallery Tanglberg”, which was recently awarded four toques.

An additional tip would be a tour of the Eggenberg Castle brewery. Where there used to be real knights with a castle and drawbridge, really good beer has been brewed since 1681. Historical buildings combined with state-of-the-art brewing technology. The commitment to quality, regionality and, above all, independence is impressively conveyed here.
