"Hiking on the Thomas Bernhard Trail" - an easy, romantic hike at any time of year with children and dogs along the Traun River, which sometimes seems very bizarre. Starting from Laakirchen in the direction of Ohlsdorf, past the "Lourdes Grotto" and vineyard. Via Hochbau back through meadows and fields to Laakirchen, it is a total of around 12 km (around 3 hours).

A visit to the Papermaking Museum in the former Steyrermühl paper factory can be worthwhile. Here, historical and contemporary topics relating to paper production are presented in a clear and understandable way. Social aspects of industrial history, environmental protection and the importance of the Traun in the world of paper are presented in separate sections.

Tip for a stop: Gasthof Restaurant zur Waldesruh in Steyrermühl/Laakirchen. The chef and owner Franz Wiesmayr places great value on fresh ingredients. The kitchen is known for delicious fish dishes, not least because of its proximity to the Traun. A very relaxing break in the quiet garden.
